Dying Light: The Beast developer Techland has confirmed it will be addressing issues with zombie grabbing in the game’s next hotfix update, which is “really close” to release, according to the studio. Dying Light: The Beast has received positive reviews from players and critics following its launch earlier this month, but the title has had its fair share of issues, including some overpowered zombies grabbing players far too frequently.
After being delayed from its original August 22 release date, Dying Light: The Beast finally made its way to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on September 18. While the second instalment in the series received mixed reviews from players, Dying Light: The Beast has secured a much more favorable reception from both critics and players. Fans have praised the improvements to parkour, the stunning new map, and the game’s brutal new beast mode mechanics. Reviews have been so positive that Dying Light: The Beast has become the highest-rated mainline entry in the series, according to Metacritic scores.
Dying Light: The Beast Update Will Tone Down Grabbing Zombies
Despite the rave reviews, Techland’s latest release isn’t perfect, which is why the studio has already deployed numerous hotfix updates for Dying Light: The Beast in the first week of release. Improvements have been made to address performance issues, fix the broken day/night cycle, and a glitch that was causing rain to appear indoors. Although Techland says it has already adjusted the frequency at which a zombie grabs a player, the studio has now revealed that further changes are on the way. In a new development update, Techland says it is “preparing a set of changes that will allow biters to remain aggressive, but ensure the encounter with them will be fair.”
Techland explains that the next update for Dying Light: The Beast will make numerous changes to the way zombies grab players. The first adjustment players will notice is that damage will now occur slightly later when being grabbed, allowing for more opportunities to escape without being hurt. When players engage in a fight, the first alerted zombie will also be less likely to start with a grab. Finally, Techland says that zombies who want to grab a player from a distance “will now make it slightly more obvious.”
Unfortunately, there’s no word on when this update may be released, but Techland says it is “really close” to being released and is aiming to launch it early next week. If all goes well, fans may hopefully see the patch become available in the coming days. The studio is also working on numerous other improvements and fixes for the title’s next update, including continued adjustments to reduce stuttering and frame rate drops. Dying Light: The Beast players on PC will also be pleased to know that frame generation improvements for graphically demanding scenes are also on the way. Full patch notes for the update will be shared once it goes live.
